Questions & Answers
Good questions deserve plain answers
The things people ask us most about giving, oversight and visiting India.
Giving
Is my gift tax-deductible?
Yes. Peter Elvin Ministries USA is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization (EIN 99-4045706). Gifts are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by U.S. law. No goods or services are provided in exchange for gifts.
Where does my money go?
Gifts fund ministry in India, including children's homes, church plants, feeding programs, pastor training and emergency relief, along with the modest costs of running a U.S. nonprofit responsibly. The Trust & Transparency page shows how a gift travels from you to India.
Can I choose what my gift is used for?
Yes. Choose a purpose on the give form and your gift is applied to that purpose. If a project becomes fully funded, we contact you or apply the balance to the nearest similar need, and we tell you we did.
How can I give?
By card or digital wallet through Square, by Venmo, by Zelle, or by mailing a check. Every way starts with the same short form so we can match the gift to you. The Ways to Give page explains each one.
Can I give every month?
Yes, by card. Choose Square as your payment method on the give form. The next screen opens Square's own secure page, where you pick the recurring option. Square emails you a link to change or cancel at any time, or you can contact us for help.
Do you store my card or bank details?
No. This website never asks for card or bank details. The give form only records who you are and what you would like to give. You make the payment yourself in your Venmo or banking app, on Square's own secure page, or by mailing a check.
Are there any fees?
Venmo, Zelle and checks have no fee. Card gifts go through Square, and the processing fee (3.3% plus 30¢) is added to the total so the full gift you chose reaches the ministry. Card processing fees are not tax-deductible.
When will I get a receipt?
We email a receipt once your gift has been received and recorded. Mailed checks can take 7 to 10 business days. Year-end giving statements document your giving for tax purposes.
I gave by mistake. Can I get a refund?
Gifts are generally non-refundable, but if you gave in error please contact us right away and we will help.
Where do I mail a check?
Make it payable to Peter Elvin Ministries and mail it to PO Box 12, Elizabeth, IL 61028. Filling in the give form first helps us record it faster.
Trust and oversight
Who oversees the ministry's finances?
A board of directors reviews budgets, approves spending and holds leadership accountable. No single person controls the ministry's finances, and U.S. board members serve as volunteers. You can meet the team.
Can I see your financial records?
Yes. Our IRS filings and financial records are open to any supporter who asks. Contact us and we will send what you need.
Will you share my details with anyone?
No. We never sell, rent or trade our donor list. Your contact information is used only to receipt your gifts and keep you informed, and you can unsubscribe at any time. See the Privacy Policy.
What do you believe?
We are a Christian ministry sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our full statement is on the Beliefs page.
Visiting India
Can I visit the work in India?
Yes. We lead vision trips where you worship with local believers, meet the children and serve alongside the team. The Visit India page walks through a typical trip.
Do I need ministry experience to come?
No. You need a willing heart and a valid passport. The local team leads the ministry, and you come alongside them.
Is it safe?
You travel with PEMUSA leadership and long-trusted local hosts who know the regions, the languages and the customs. We don't take visitors anywhere we wouldn't take our own families.
Can my family or church group come?
Yes. Couples, families and small groups have all traveled with us. Tell us who is coming and we will shape the trip around the group.
Staying in touch
How do I hear what my gift accomplished?
Through newsletters, photos and video from the field. Join the newsletter and watch the latest videos.
I can't give right now. How else can I help?
Pray, come on a trip, join a benefit evening, follow the newsletter or share the story with your church. The Get Involved page lists every way.
How do I reach a real person?
Email info@pemusa.org or use the contact form. We read every message.
